The Flying Dutchman shares his near-death experience!

The Life Insurance Association of Singapore (LIA) launched a national campaign in March 2013 which features popular radio host, Flying Dutchman (FD).

The LIA vision is to provide individuals with peace of mind and to promote a society where every person is prepared for life’s changing cycles and for those situations unforeseen.

This campaign essentially features the FD’s near-death experience to get people thinking about life’s unforeseen events and hits home the need for life insurance. As medical expenses are getting more expensive and sometimes, life can change all of a sudden.

Morganfield’s food tasting session at Star Vista

Thank you Morganfield’s and Street Directory for organising this blogger party. Morganfield’s is located at Star Vista #02-23.

This is my 1st time visit Star Vista. Star Vista is one of the new shopping centres that is opened near Buona Vista MRT station in 2012. There’s also free shutte buses from Biopolis to Star Vista during lunch hour on weekdays.

Map of Star Vista

Morganfield’s known as Home of the sticky bones. It origins at USA, Midwest region.

Morganfield’s has a great ambience and a Mid-western USA feel. You can enjoy great mid-western American food there without going to America.

As this was my 1st time visiting and tasting Morganfield’s food, I couldn’t wait to try out their sticky bones as well as food from their new menu.

While waiting for the sticky bones, I tried 2 of their soups and 1of the cocktail drinks – Virgin Apple Machito.

Virgin Apple Machito tasted great and refreshing. Virgin Apple Machito has no alcohol unlike the real Machito as it’s a mocktail.

Here’s the 2 soups that I have tasted:

1. Lobster Bisque $9.90

Lobster Bisque

Classic lobster bisque. Smooth, creamy and packed full of shellfish flavor.

2. Homemade cream soup with generous mixed mushroom chunks $8.90.

Cream of Mushroom

I love mushroom soup and lobster bisque. Tasted great. I rarely have seafood soup for appetizer and it’s quite well blended.

Here comes Morganfield’s new dish – Summer Salad $15.90!

Summer Salad

Watermelon chunks, cucumber, tomatoes, mixed lettuce, Kalamata olives, Manzanlilla olives, Feta cheese and sundried tomatoes. Served with Summer dressing.

Summer salad looks colorful. They have added watermelon cubes to the salad to enhance the taste of the salad (especially the sweet watermelons). If not it will taste bitter like the normal salad I had eaten before in other restaurants. And it’s good to eat watermelons during hot weather.

Pop Corn Pork $8.90

Popcorn meat pieces

Pork cubes marinated with Morganfield’sTM secret spice mix and deep-fried till crisp. Served with homemade Garlic Aioli and BBQ Ranch sauce.

I love to dip these with sauces. Yummy.

Pan Fried Sea Bass $26.90

Pan-fried sea bass with Pilaf rice and Garden Veggies

I love the way they pan-fried the sea bass and the Hollandaise sauce tasted great. The rice tasted like it’s cooked with oil but it’s buttery rice cooked with onions & garlic.

Grilled Vegetable Sandwich $19.90

Grilled peppers, zucchini, mushrooms, Cheddar & Feta cheese sandwiched in between crispy grilled Panini bread. Served with French Fries.

I didn’t really like the taste of the Grilled vegetable sandwich. Perhaps some sauce/more cheese/cheddar may be able to bring the taste out with Panini bread.

Herb Roasted Chicken $21.90

Herb Roasted Chicken

Half chicken marinated with our special blend of herbs & yogurt before being roasted to juicy perfection. Served with Red Skin Mashed Potatoes, Garden Veggies and Morgan’s House Gravy.

I love herb roasted chicken. I dipped the chicken with Morgan’s House Gravy and it enhanced the taste. The mash potato’s just right and I love it.

Now let me introduce to you the 3 different sharing platters from Morganfield’s:

1. Ocean Feast $113.90

Beer-battered Fish Fillets, Tequila grilled Prawns, Grilled Sausages, Garden Salad, Grilled Corn on Cob, Corn Bread and French Fries and you can choose 1 of the flavors for 1 Full Slab Sticky Bones™ (choices: Hickory BBQ, Tuscan Baked Spicy, Smoked Peppercorn or Garlic BBQ) and Free Chocolate Lava Cake

If you love seafood, this would be a good choice for sharing platter. I love their beer-battered fish fillet as it’s soft and easy to chew.

2. The Carnivore $89.90

This platter is suitable for meat lovers. Ooh….

Choice of any Full Slab Sticky Bones™ (Hickory BBQ, Tuscan Baked  Spicy ,Smoked Peppercorn or Garlic BBQ), Choice of any ½ Roast Chicken (Herb Roasted, Tequila Spiked, Honey Stung or BBQ), Grilled Sausages, Garden Salad, Grilled Corn on Cob, Corn Bread and French Fries and Free Chocolate Lava Cake

I love this platter as it’s a mixture of 2 different types of meat and allowed to choose different flavours for 2 different types of meat with a full slab of Sticky Bones.

3. Morgan’s Rib Sampler $116.90

Morgan’s Rib Sampler

Choice of any 3 half Slabs of our signature Sticky Bones™ flavors (Hickory BBQ, Tuscan Baked Spicy, Smoked Peppercorn or Garlic BBQ), Grilled Sausages, Garden Salad, Grilled Corn on Cob, Corn Bread and French Fries and Free Chocolate Lava Cake

Well you get to choose 3 different flavours of Sticky Bones™ with this wonderful platter compared to the other 2 platters. Of course, it’s good to taste the 3 different flavours of sticky bones while sharing with family and friends despite it’s only half slab for each flavour.

I would strongly recommend this sharing platter if you want to taste different flavours of Sticky Bones™ for the 1st visit at Morganfield’s.

Of course, I love Morganfield’s sticky bones, especially the Hickory BBQ flavour and smoked peppercorn. It’s easy to chew and can be easily cut nicely or rib off from the ribs compared to other meat with bones.

Chocolate Lava Cake

I love Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla ice cream. Cold outside and hot at the centre. You should try it for dessert.

Anyway, the place is a good place to dine and it is spacious to accommodate up to 108 diners. I would recommend people to organise parties/special celebrations or gatherings at this place while order the sharing platters with family members and/or friends.

Of course, I will want to come back for more sticky bones and share the good food with family especially sharing platters and their lava cake.
