Somewhere beyond the sea – Now we have to join in the adventures to find Dory….
My first trip to Pulau Ketam (Crab Island), Klang, Selangor, Malaysia.
I had never visited this place before however, I know Pulau Ketam is located on an island near Port Klang, Selangor Malaysia. It is an offshore island and people have to take a ferry from Port Klang to Pulau Ketam. You have to go to Port Klang – South Port to take the ferry to Pulau Ketam.
Port Klang was known as Port Sweetenham and was renamed as Port Klang. Port Klang also has a KTM Komuter station where people can take a train from KTM train station or KL Sentral to Port Klang.
You can buy the ferry ticket from the ferry terminal or buy the ticket on the ferry. Currently, each ticket costs around RM7 for a 45-minute ferry ride. If you are lucky enough, you may be able to spot dolphins during the ferry ride.
Selamat Datang ke Pulau Ketam! Welcome to Crab Island! There are two villages on Pulau Ketam; Kampung Pulau Ketam and Kampung Sungai Lima.
I stayed the biggest hotel in Pulau Ketam – Hotel Sea Lion in Pulau Ketam within Kampung Pulau Ketam! It is located very near to Pulau Ketam Jetty. The owner of this hotel – Mr Andy Cha, is the village head of Pulau Ketam. He’s very friendly person and I enjoyed my stay in this hotel.
You can visit its website at http://www.sealion.com.my/index-sealion.html for its different packages and room types. 1 of the packages do allow people to have private karaoke party too!
Stayed in a room facing the jetty and the sea view. When there is low tide, you will love the sight of crabs moving about. It is not just one or a few, it is more than hundreds of crabs! Thus this place is named after crabs. This is only a small section of the area being taken by my digital camera.
Touring around the island is a must. People either walk, cycle with bicycles, take a boat ride or ride motorised bike within the island. No sight of cars and traffic lights at all! It is best to wear a comfortable pair of flat shoes to move about on wooden planks or concentrate ground. You can rent a bicycle at RM5 per day.
You will see a lot of salted fish and dried prawns on this island too. It is a good place to purchase a lot of dried sea products on Pulau Ketam at an affordable price.
Seafood meal is a must in Pulau Ketam, especially Ketam (Crab). Fresh from the sea.
Best to have a steamboat dinner there.
It is also good to explore part of Pulau Ketam with a boat ride to see the different village settlements (Chua Chu Kang, Hokkien village, Teochew village, Hainan village) and the
Temple in Pulau Ketam, Klang, Selangor, Malaysia
Enjoyed my stay in Pulau Ketam. It is quite different from the bustling cities of Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Malaysia and Singapore. A form of quiet, kampong life on an island. No traffic lights. Happy people with not much worries. It was good to experience such simple life and learnt a lot. People must be contented with what they have in life.
Hope to come back to Pulau Ketam again! Will update part of this post with Chinese Characters!
This marked my 1st time riding a Hot Air Balloon in Singapore during the Singapore SEA games 2015 carnival at Sportshub in June 2015. Thank you sponsor Unionpay and SEA games 2015 for organising this hot air balloon rides. Normally people will have to go France, USA, Australia, UK, Turkey, parts of Africa to try such as ride.
Despite of short ride, it was a great experience being UP UP in a basket for a short time. Thank you once again!
Hope to have another similar opportunity again! =)
Selamat Datang ke Malaysia! (Welcome to Malaysia, 欢迎到马来西亚!)
This was my 1st visit to Lost World of Tambun, Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. Purchased a package during the Travel Malaysia tour together with the coach package as I wanted to visit Lost World of Tambun at Ipoh for a good getaway. Lost World of Tambun has Lost World Hotel, Lost World Petting Zoo, Amusement Park, Water Park, Lost World Tiger Valley, Lost World Lupe’s adventure, Lost World Tin Valley and Lost World Hot Springs and Spa. It is a good place for families to visit and have fun!
This place is not so accessible by public buses and people may have to take taxi or book coach packages to come to this place. This place was featured on Channel 8 with Quan Yi Fong and Aloysius Pang on The Dukes’ Theme Park Challenge 公子爱挑战.
I stayed in Lost World Hotel as it was more convenient for me to walk from the hotel to the theme park. The best is to have a room with the view facing the theme park than the block of houses located at the back of the hotel. The good thing is that there’s Giant located at Sunway City Ipoh and people can walk from the hotel to Giant to do shopping and makan (eat).

The hotel room rates are affordable and the bed is comfortable.

Lost World Tin Valley
History of Tin mining in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia.
This reminds me of the Channel 8 drama – Our Journey A Voyage 《信约：唐山到南洋》where Li Nanxing, Elvin Ng starred in the drama.
You can see a lot of interesting history about Ipoh in Lost World Tin valley.
Elephants were used for the transportation of tin ores.
Dulang washer – to ‘wash’ of the sand and get the tin ore. Not an easy thing to do so after trying. People will need a lot of expensive to shake and swirl the pot to get the tin. Does it reminds you of Jeanette Aw’s Character 林鸭子 Lin Yazi in Our Journey A Voyage 《信约：唐山到南洋》 as a dulang washer. Dulang washing was usually done by Hakka women.
Learn more facts about tin, tin mining and Dulang washer. I did not expect that Dulang Washer needed to pay to buy a pass to pan for tin ores.
Time for a rest at the Dulang Teahouse and know more about the tin mining history as Ipoh’s a famous city known for its tin mining activities.
There is also Lost World Adventure Park near the tin valley area. Booking is required.

Prairie Dog – that doesn’t look a dog to me. (however, I do not have a good picture of it)
Resting place for the raccoons in the petting zoo.
There is also Lost World Animal Care Centre to take care of sick animals.
It will be good to come to Lost World Petting Zoo and see animals.
Lost World Water Park
Tried the lazy river and the water slides (sorry that I do not have the photos as I locked my camera in a locker)
I enjoyed the water slide rides and had fun then.
Best to get slides to enjoy the water sliding rides!
Lost World Hot Spring – Spa
I did enjoyed myself with the hot spring as its mineral hot spring water consists of a lot of minerals and good for health.
