Movie Review: The Tower (Korean)

Ahnyeong Haseyo! Sorry for the lacking of updates.

I watched ‘The Tower’ (Korean movie) at Shaw Lido on 21 Jan 2013. Heard this movie’s very touching and sad yet it involves quite a lot of graphics to make it realistic with the inferno flames & shattered glass.

A disaster movie from South Korea about hundreds of people trapped inside a skyscraper engulfed in flames on christmas eve is the country’s first hit of the year. Starting with Son Ye Jin (Summer Scent and Personal Taste) as Eun Hee, Kim Sang Kyung as Lee Dae Ho and Sol Kyung Gu as the firefighter captain – Kang Young ki and Cha In-Pyo as President of Tower Sky. The movie takes place on Christmas Eve at the glitzy opening of a 108-story twin-tower luxury building in the heart of Seoul.

Although I rarely watch Cha In Pyo’s dramas on TV, however, I can recognise him acting as the president of the Tower Sky. Do catch this movie if you can. It’s one of the greatest korean movie I have seen and you will appreciate the firefighter’s hardwork on saving people’s lives while help to put off fire. It will be coming to Singapore’s Cinemas from 24 Jan 2013 onwards.

Do not worry if you don’t understand korean as there will be both English and Chinese subtitles.

Here’s the trailer of this movie:

Since it’s a spray, I just touch the spray and the spray mist comes out. While spraying with this product, my skin had quite a cooling sensation immediately. Then I rub the mist onto my skin evenly. It was not greasy at all. However, I need to be careful while spraying the mist especially if it’s near the face area.

I even let my skin to touch water and the mist is water-resistant. Good for people who plans to go water activities such as kayaking and swimming as well as playing with water activities.

Review of this product:

Yes, it can be applied onto my face and body. It is liquid formulation, not so greasy as it does not clog my pores while applying the sunblock lotion. I needed to pour out some contents onto my palms and apply to my body and face. If not, it will go out of place while applying the lotion.

I do not feel that cool sensation immediately unlike the mist, however, after a while, I can feel the cool refreshing sensation. Clear finish too as people cannot see the white application after applying onto my skin.

The greatest part was it is water-resistant. Good to apply if planning to go for water activities or under the sun for long time.

I have listened all the songs in this CD and it’s great. While listening to all the songs, I could feel how much hardwork the finalists, Toh Yi Fan and Shawn Tok had put in to write out songs on environment. It is not easy to write songs.

I do quite like Shawn Tok’s song 拯救世界, Lee Feng Heng’s World Without Fences and Julian Kwok’s Love for the Planet Earth. Nice lyrics and tune, great music and it’s about the environment which I like very much. I will give a 4 out of 5 stars for the great music in the CD.

If you are interested to get those songs, you can purchase the album @ $9.90 or $0.99/song online @ or go to NEA Customer Service Centre at Environment Building at Scotts Road (near Newton MRT area).

Movie Review: Dolphin Tale

Image taken from wikipedia

Have you watch this movie – Dolphin Tale? It is one of the nice and most inspiring movie that I watched. I cried while watching this movie. I do love dolphins. It is funny in some ways (especially the kingfisher part) and quite touching at times especially the moment between Kyle, Saywer’s cousin trying to touch Winter and how the kids organised an event to save Winter.

It is about real-life story about Winter the Dolphin. Of course, Winter acted as herself in the movie. She was trapped on the crab trap & lost her tail. A dolphin without a tail – means it cannot swim and may die. But Winter has a strong willpower and managed to swim without a tail. However, this action causes more problems to her body and help is needed to create a suitable prosthetic for Winter to swim properly. It was not easy to create artificial tail for a dolphin.

Meanwhile, Saywer got to know about Dr McCarthy through his cousin, Kyle and Dr McCarthy promised to create a suitable artificial tail for Winter as he is a specialist in creating artificial limbs for the humans.

While saving Winter, Clearwater Medical Centre did had some problems as funds were running low. Watch this movie to find out how Saywer and other characters figure out a way to save Winter.

I will give this film a 5 out of 5 stars. Suitable for everybody to watch. Do not give up if you are facing problems and difficulties. Think of how Winter overcome her problem of her missing tail and her will to live on. And thank you for the people who created artificial tail/(s) for Winter.

Movie Review: Real Steel

I had watched Real Steel some days ago at the Cathay together with my sister Of course, this movie is about robots fighting and how the bonding between the father and his estranged son become closer due to their similar interests (father likes boxing while the son likes robots fighting).

Synopsis of Real Steel

A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future, where the sport of boxing has gone hi-tech, “Real Steel” stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring.

Now, nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

How do I think of this movie?

From the start of the movie, it shows Charlie Kenton is a promoter, struggling to make a living using his robots to fight with a bull and other robots.

He had a son with his ex-girlfriend and had a deal (that is to allow Max to stay with Charlie for a period of time while Max’s aunt will be away in Italy) with his aunt’s husband to have some money to buy Noisy Boy (famous Japanese Robot for boxing).

He brought Noisy Boy and his son along for underground boxing for robots and lost Noisy Boy. So they had to go to scrap metal centre to find materials for making new robots. While searching for materials, Max fell off the cliff but was saved by something which is part of the robot. When Max wants to bring the robot home, Charlie told him to do it on his own. and he did. The robot that he brought home was Atom.

Max noticed something special with Atom and Charlie noticed that on 1 occasion. Max and Charlie had a deal with each other as Charlie promised him to teach Atom boxing and he did and brought Atom for some underground boxing matches to earn some money. As days pass by, the bonding between the father and son become stronger and stronger.

One day, someone came and beat up Charlie and Charlie decided to return Max to his aunt. Max was not happy with that decision. Charlie felt sad about what he did and visited Max one day to fulfil Max’s wish, which he did, which is the battle between Atom and 1 of the top robot boxers, Zeus.

I am not going to tell the ending of the story. What to find out more about what happen? Do catch Real Steel on Cinemas, k?

I will give this movie 4.25 out of 5 stars. Do note that this is a PG13 film. Some of the scenes are quite funny and I love the bonding between the father and son.

Visit or Official Real Steel Singapore Facebook Page for more information on the movie.
